Harper is a man from The Land That Time Forgot.
A Dinosaur, in many senses, revealed by his penchant for fossil fuels, war, racism and misogyny.
Ashifa Kassam reminds us that Harper has not offered no contraction of his assault on pay equity. http://www.rabble.ca/columnists/2008-stephen-harper-vs-feminism .
Babblers elaborated last month on the fact that Harper in his failed economic statement tried to ensure women and racialized workers wouldn't be allowed to complain to the Human Rights Commission.
As a personal note, I mentioned in my 'hi -introduction' to babble that my mother had been fired from her first job when she got pregnant. She was a geologist- a Gold Medalist from UoT at graduation (beat out all the guys). She worked for a company after that, doing microscopy and analysis. But the company had a policy that new employees had to promise not to get pregnant for three years. Mom was a month or so off the deadline...
Does Harper want us to shift us back to those days?
Will the country be further trapped in a toxic economy, with divisive human relations, militarization, and discrimination? Will we promote further massacres, in policy abroad, and towards the planet?
A return to the Middle Ages will look benign compared to the backwards direction of Stephen Harper.
What kind of Confidence Vote can We give Harper?
