I think perhaps Kenney is the victim of slander here. This is what he wrote to all 26 Conservative caucus members:

Jason Kenney wrote:

"I say a definite 'no' to Lukaszyk. I don't think it makes sense to create a precedent to do a special caucus meeting for every visiting minister from the provincial government. Plus he is a complete and utter asshole."

[emphasis added]

The deputy premier's name is "Lukaszuk". Clearly, Kenney is referring to someone else. A politician like Kenney, so sensitive to ethnic peculiarities, would not inadvertently misspell a name like this.

Thoughts?

Wow. If the Harperites want to isolate themselves even more by attacking Alberta Conservatives, be my guest.

I don't think I've ever seen a clearer example of the pot calling the kettle black.

Did he ever get roasted in QP. He was trying to defend himself by saying he got 75% of the vote last election. Bob Rae came back and said "I'd hate to have heard what he would have called the deputy premier had he got 80% of the vote"

The Alberta NDP should present a motion condemning the comments in the AB legislature. It would be tragically ironic (and not to mention hilarious) if the PC or Wildrose MLAs didn't stand up and show deadfast support for it.

Mulcair said the perfect thing: "I met Deputy Premier Lukaszuk and found him to be a complete and utter gentleman"!

Asked if Mulcair brought any vaild points to the table, Lukaszuk was blunt.

“No,” he said.

“His understanding of our economic impact on the rest of the country is somewhat surprising. I expect seasoned politicians to have a much (more) thorough understanding. But let me give him the benefit of the doubt because he is a seasoned politician. I don’t fully accept the fact that he doesn’t understand (what) Alberta’s economy is to the rest of Canada.”

Lukaszuk accused Mulcair of playing an “old style of politics” pitting region against region.

People are missing a key point, if the email only went out to Tory MPs and staffers it means one of them sold Kenney out to the press, someone leaked it in retailation.

So the question is who and why. Was it someone who supports the PCs and not wildrose and viewed Kenney Wildrose support as a betrayal of fellow Tories, was Peter Mckay whose despite being a useless minister sees himself as the next Conservative leader and sees Kenney as his main rival, or could it just be someone who thinks Kenney is an all purpose asshole, therefor a hypocrit?

I love Tory divisions I really do, wouldn't it be great if the Tories broke up into two parties again? An NDP Majority government would almost be assured if that happened.

Especially from their base, Alberta

Well, he's finally apologized after a day of counterattacks--obeying the Harperite dictum:
"When caught with your pants down, accuse the other bus passengers of voyeurism."

From the Star:

Quote:
Jason Kenney apologizes...
...

Many federal Conservative MPs and cabinet ministers made no secret of the fact that they were cheering for, and in some cases actively working for, the Wild Rose Party to knock off the long reigning Progressive Conservative Party, led by Premier Alison Redford, which handily defeated the upstart right-wing party in April.

“It obviously shows the antipathy (the federal Conservatives) has toward the Alberta government,” said a political insider who asked not to be named....

The key point is that it still seems to be unconfirmed whether Lukaszuk is, in fact, an asshole. All I've seen so far is hearsay. Can anyone say for sure?

That was Linda Duncan 4:27 Did Mulcair say it too?

CF: A definitive answer is hard to provide, but given the track record of his predecessors (esp. Ken Kowalski and Shirley McClellan), I would still bet on it being an accurate descriptor - it may very well be a prerequisite to hold the position.

Well whether he is or isn't, clearly he is not one of theirs.

Well, he can't be cleaned up with toilet paper, so he's not an asshole in a literal sense. But if they decide to have that Lunch on Thursday maybe we will finally find out in a figurative sense?

... then you're probably an asshole? Hey, never thought of that - it opens up a whole new vista!

Strange to hear a Conservative tell the truth, but then it was meant to be private.

Dost thou not suspect my place? Dost thou not suspect my years? O that he were here to write me down an ass! But masters, remember that I am an ass. Though it be not written down, yet forget not that I am an ass. No, thou villain, thou art full of piety, as shall be proved upon thee by good witness. I am a wise fellow, and which is more, an officer, and which is more, a householder, and which is more, as pretty a piece of flesh as any is in Messina, and one that knows the law, go to . . . and one that hath two gowns, and everything handsome about him. Bring him away. O that I had been writ down an ass! - Much Ado About Nothing

Well, isn't everyone an asshole to someone? I daresay anyone who owns or has owned a car and has been in traffic has at some point most likely been labelled an asshole, deservedly or not.

But certainly there are degrees of assholery, like telling the little girl selling cookies at the door that if she ever interrupts your drinking binge again with her capatalist BULLSHIT, you'll feed her and her fuckin cookies to your rottweiller.

Or maybe just saying for the thousandth time "No, Thanks" to the cashier at the supermarket asking if you'ld like to donate a toonie to the blahblablah fund, and what you really wanna say is "Listen, I'ld love to donate a thousand fuckin dollars to the fuckin rotary club but unfortunately I need that toonie so I can buy fuckin milk next week, and I HATE YOUR FUCKIN guts for making ME feel like an asshole for being poor".

So, the way I see it there are many shades of assholery, and I'm sure Lukaszuk, unless he's a saint, has done something to someone at some point in his life that deserves him being called an asshole, but Jason Kenney calling some ELSE an asshole is the definition of glass asses and stones or whatever.

Ha I get what your saying, although I hope you never said that to the poor girl scout.

The Cashier asking for you to for a twoony for charity think about this. This is coming from a corporation with huge profits and could easily finance the charity itself. Instead its asking customers for the money and then it brags about how generous it is and how much it cares.

Oh but the plot thickens, see all those twoonies get collected by the corporation and given or used for Charity which means that your money goes to getting a huge charity tax break for that corporation, boosting its profits!

So now you've been stuck for the bill for this charity, you boosted that corporations profits and its PR, and now one realizes that one just sucked money out of the government coffers meaning less money for healthcare, the poor, roads, education, basic governmental services, fair wages for public sector employees, ect... so far its cost you money, it cost the government revenue, its made the rich richer and its cost us all balanced budgets and less social programs. Thier is no such thing as a Public Corporate Charity. Its all a scam.

In light of the mass defection of Smith et al, I'm wondering whether babblers feel that it's time, historically speaking, to revisit the significance of the above-referenced events?
