I cannot believe my prediction about Megan Leslie (from TWO years ago) proved correct! That she would be defeated in 2015!

CTV just annouced Megan Leslie has been defeated

We just a lost a champion of the people and one of the best people in Parliament, and what could have been a future leader, this is becoming worse then my nightmares.

Wow did we fuck this one up big tit, from leading in August to this great humiliation. Head will need to roll for this, and I don'tmean the MPs we're losing.

There are still people who think that it is not impossible for the NDP to retain the position of official opposition

The only way that happens is if A) Alantic Canada is an analomy of epic proportions, B)the Tories some how manage to do even worse then the NDP.

I thought it was obvious that I was talking about option B.

OO with less than 50 seats --- not pretty if that happens.

I would love it if the entire Conservative caucus could fit on a motorcycle

That would be very unlikely thanks to the Praire's, but if by some miracle it comes to pass, it would at least allow the NDP to save face.

That is what I said two years ago, yet everyone blasted me for saying Megan Leslie would be vulnerable in Halifax

CBC has announced the NDP has lost all of their seats in Atlantic Canada.

An improvement nonetheless. That's the sad truth.

Only in tone and presentation of the same,I'm afraid...

Peter Stoffer defeated. Maybe now the NDP will support an estate tax.

Unionist

The defeat of Harper will be a historic tribute to the wisdom and conscience of the Canadian people.

Megan Leslie is also done. This is sad.

Harris's seat hasn't been called yet.

Absolutely. If this holds it will be a vote against the politics of: fear, racism, hatred, division that has been championed by Stephen Harper.

Very encouraging.

JeffWells

It almost doesn't matter what's coming after Atlantic Canada. Losing Megan Leslie is devastating.

Still: on with the bad news.

Correct.

Jack Harris is not defeated yet.

Jack Harris' riding is still uncertain. He's behind by about 2% with slightly more than half the polls reporting.

Take back Canada,  AND take back the NDP.

Debater

Liberals leading in the First Poll in Gaspésie-Ille Des Le Madeline.

Who knows whether that lasts, but it shows that Liberal support is definitely up in Quebec.

ctrl190

Wow, never thought I'd see the day where Stoffer was defeated.

terrytowel

Nick Nanos is just saying that when you have a desire for change that high (at 70%) incumbents are vulnerable.

Remember 1993 the PC & NDP were wiped out.

My new favorite Darth Vader quote/meme:

"This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of NDP, and it will soon see the end of the Rebellion."

On a serious note, I am disappointed to see Mr. Stoffer defeated, he was a strong supporter of veteran issues.

Unionist

Sean in Ottawa wrote:

It's not "sad". It''s the logical consequence of the treachery of the NDP secret handlers, the cowardly Brad Lavignes and Anne McGraths and Mulcairs and their ilk. Unless the honest people - like Megan Leslie - develop the courage to tell these traitors to fuck off, they will deservedly follow them into the dustbin of history.

ctrl190

I'm not willing to wave the white flag in Quebec. It's a whole other beast.

Hope the closet door does hit Harper onthe way out lol

Oh boo hoo hoo, another supporter of the AFghan "mission" bites the dust. May his memory be erased. Yimach shmo vezichro.

On one of the networks they mentioned Megan Leslie mother was ill during the campaign, So Megan was strectched a but thin campaiging and being by her mothers side. But Robert Fife mentioned that it was known among pollsters that Megan was vulnerable in Halifax.

That may be true he was a supporter of the Afghan mission but he looked after all veteran issues going back to WW2.

No need to be rude. Unionist is no more a Liberal than you are. Not to put words in his mouth, but he just sees the current version of the NDP for what it really is.

Again as I has said to you guys, the Liberals bought the exclusive rights to the Obama software. And now it is paying off, because the Liberals have replicated Obama ground game in all 338 ridings across Canada.

Brachina - word of advice. I can call Peter Stoffer a warmongering pro-Zionist shithead if I want to. But you can't call me names. It's against babble policy. I understand your frustration. But keep it in check. Because it won't help you win over the hearts and minds of the Canadian people.

Canadians are not stupid, the way you apparently think they are. They hate Stephen Harper and everything he represents. Peter Stoffer is cut from the same cloth as Harper. As is Pat Martin and others of that ilk. As long as the NDP gives shelter to scum of that nature, the truly honest and worthy people - the Megan Leslies, the Jack Harrises, the Niki Ashtons... - will all be tarred by the same brush. Figure that out. If not now, then over the next few years. If not, resign yourself and your beloved party to political irrelevancy. The people of Canada need a champion of their interests. Brad Lavigne and his ilk ain't it.

And we'll all pay for it...

Absent the usual Liberal campaign BS...

Got FIPA?..Got CETA??...Got TPP??...Got corporate tax cuts?...Got public to private wealth transference?...

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

The Liberals have won a landslide. It will be interesting to see if the NDP can so much as maintain official party status.

The Liberals are just too entrenched in the polity for historical reasons, 2011 notwithstanding. So people turned to them to throw the Conservatives out. That has far more to do with it than software.

One mistake amid countless dumb fuck mistakes by the brain trust, what eats me most is that this could have been a win, it didn't have to turn out this way, they like idiots ran a front runner campaign when they shouldn't have, they allowed Trudeau to talk over Mulcair during the debates when they should have let Mulcair rip Trudeau apart, they failed to gage the mood of the public, and they ran the campaign like something out of the 1930’s. Tommy Douglas was a great man, but people don't have patience anymore, its a forgotten art.

They should have been prepared for the Niqba, I'm not sure what, but there had to be somekind of counter play.

Megan Leslie is special and important to rebuild the party into something better.

Liberals have poached Acadie-Bathurst from the NDP in NB

I raised this as a concern some time ago -- however the party might get party status out of BC alone.
