According to your logic if it wasn't the software, then why didn't voters turn to the NDP? They were at 40% in the polls. If u are saying it wasn't the software, they you are saying all the volunteers pulling the Liberal vote were irrelevant

Yes. If she can grow some courage to challenge the dictators of the party. I'm hoping that will happen, but have seen no reason for optimism so far.

I'm seeing:

LPC 40%

NDP 28.4%

BQ 23%

with 40 of 214 polls reporting

terrytowel

Maybe Megan Leslie can run for the party leadership

Already discussed lots of reasons -- not the software -- this is a lot bigger than that. Once the Liberals pulled ahead of the NDP the vote moved them en-masse.

Again as I has said to you guys, the Liberals bought the exclusive rights to the Obama software. And now it is paying off, because the Liberals have replicated Obama ground game in all 338 ridings across Canada.

This should really be no surprise as we flip flop between the two parties every decade or so...in ten years people will be cheering the demise of the libs....

I'm convinced that Kinsella has a role in the Liberal campaign to make commentary that goes against the the perceived Liberal grain to purposely confuse / distract / mislead / deflect partisans and operatives from other parties from what the Liberals are truly thinking/planning.

NO. He doesn't. He is regarded as a crank and one with a decreasing capacity for analysis. Butts nixed him running for the Liberals and Herle can!'t stand him.

I willl say there is a SERIOUS problem with how Atalntic Canada looks at the world. They obviously LOVE governments that kick the asses of the poor, and beats the crap out of unions! At the same time, they stand with their hands out. OK, I'm not helping the NDP's cause writing like this, but obviously there is a huge problem with how people their view the world. It's going to be up  to the NDP to really put its brain to work and explain why the Libs will keep them poor. This eletion is a real opportunity for the NDP to develop the case for its leadership. And I've NO dount that the Libs will give people there plenty of cause to rethink their vote. Go get em gang!

Its raining and thundering her in Richmond Hill, it seems right some how and this sad tragic day.

For the first time since I started voting, I'm going to bed before Ontario is counted.

We came so close though didn't we back in August, still drinking in the fumes from Rachel Notley's miracle win in Alberta?

I guess we still have that, even though I don't live in Alberta.

I didn't think I'd ever say this, but after a life time obsessed with politics I'm sick to death of politics.

I wish Justin Trudeau had never been born, that his mom had had an abortion, tomorrow the horror show of Liberal corruption and evil begans again.

Arthur Cramer Arthur Cramer's picture

CBC's so called real time coverage on the net sucks big time. That is another issue for us. We need to stop being so nice to the media in this country. It is tme to start expalining to them why they are so out to lunch and challenge them. There is no question that unless the NDP gets real in ging after the lousy press it has been getting and go over their heads to Canadians, NOTHING will change.

Brachina, no! Remember what Jack said, "it''s never to late to build a better world"! Remember, if he had lived, there'd be no Justin Trudeau. Trudeau is a fabrication, a ghost, a strawman, an empty suit. He'll show himself for what he is. Come one Brachina, buck up!

Could be.   Methinks the opposite is more likely.....ie

Atlantic Canada - Red

Ontario - could go Red (current polling aside - the anti Harper feeling is big and Red is the traditional, comfortable, safe alternative.)

Quebec - if they see Ont & Atlantic Canada going Red, then a return to their traditional Red under native son is a very likely scenario - huge anti-Harper feelings in Quebec and they swing together strategically as we've all seen.)

Thats enough for a strong minority - possible majority - especially if BC follows the (hypothetical) national trend envisioned here.

Harper needs his 30% base plus those 10% swing voters.  Like the orange wave in '11, NDP success gives him that 10% and screws the rest of us.

This year support Justin.  Please.

This has so many false assumptions -- where do you start?

Liberals accusing the NDP of causing their collapse is a sign of deep denial about the problems that existed and in some cases still exist in their own party.

Had the NDP not existed in the last eleciton we would have had an even bigger Conservative majority.

The arrogance and sense of entitlement in Liberals saying that everyone else must support their party as the only alternative is very much linked to why that party can fail so dramatically. News flash: That arrogance is not endearing.

You assume that Ontario will go solid Liberal even though there is no indication that they will; That Atlantic Canada in going Red would convince Quebec to follow even though Quebec has not voted in tandem with Atlantic Canada in a generation.

All this is put together to create a hypothetica national trend that you suggest BC can follow. This is a Liberal dream to be sure but it is nothing but a fairytale when brought to people who support other parties becuase they want something different than a Liberal dream.

Of course let us be clear that the Liberal dream is about Liberals taking power. As such it is very relavent to Liberals. It is not as relevant to those looking for policies other than Liberal pursuit of power.

On CBC it's only 3 polls with about 30 votes, the "lead" is 8 votes. Far too soon.

Terrytowel, you KNOW the great marjority of posters here ARE New Demorats! Why are you posting this? It is nasty, and mean. This is why so many of us don't feel you are welcome here. This tone-deaf, commentary is insuliting, and it is really rubbing salt into the wounds. This is also NOT how you get New Democrats on your side. I'll remenf you now, what goes around, comes around. I hope you stay  here. We're going to joust with you, and we're not going to be as nice was we have been. Expect to be really pressed on everything to you post. The free ride is over. You want to rub our faces in it, I don't know about the rest of us, but I always get up. I've got your shirt, and I'm not letting go!

Can the NDP match the 2011 Liberal result of 34 seats at this point?

A lot of them will, but expect people like Debater, Pondering and Terrytowel to beome evern more serlf-righteous and arrogant. Part of this is pay back you know for the Orange Crush in 2011. The Libs never got over the idea the NDP acutally thought of itself as a "National Party". The Libs think of themselves, unabashedly, as "Canada's Natural Governing Party". And they are going to spend the next several weeks remindiing us about that. And it will speak VOLUMES about their character!

Clearly the NDP was way too left wing in its platform. Next time, they'll need to push to the centre.
