During an interruption at one of his rallies in Kentucky last week, Trump told the audience to “get him out. Try not to hurt him – if you do, I’ll defend you in court.”

NorthReport

Another reason Trump is doing so well is that his GOP competition is so weak.

Unfortunately people are prepared to overlook Trump's behavior because they believe he is going to bring back jobs to America.

I was wrong about Donald Trump: Camille Paglia on the GOP front-runner’s refreshing candor (and his impetuousness, too)

Yes, he remains thin-skinned and easily riled.

But his fearlessness and brash energy also seem necessary and rare

Not such a secret, or a surprise. He's the only Republican attacking the so-called trade deals. It's either Trump or Sanders. Unfortunately many are attracted by Trump's racial, ethnic and religious scapegoating.

I'm not out to ignore the power of small-minded people in large numbers.  But I have to wonder if, say, Jeb Bush had been similarly xenophobic, it would have helped him.  If they both said "expel the brown people!!" I think many voters would assume Bush was saying it because his handlers told him he should, and Trump was saying it because his handlers warned him that he shouldn't.

Hillary Clinton: "Hillary for America!"

Bernie Sanders: "Feel the Bern!"

Ted Cruz: "Courageous Conservatives!"

Donald Trump: "And Not A Single Fuck Was Given That Day!"

Would not have been convincing coming from Bush since he's married to someone born and raised in Mexico.

Are the neo-conservatives going to rejoin the Democratic Party? Voltaire Network | 4March 2016

Historically, the neo-conservatives were a small group of US Trotskyites who were recruited by the CIA to fight against the Soviet Union. They joined the Republican Party and served under Presidents Reagan and Bush Senior.

However, they turned against Bush Senior when he failed to complete the destruction of Iraq at the end of «Desert Storm», and sided with the candidacy of Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party.

Nonetheless, they rejected President Clinton when he wound down the war in Kosovo. While he was enmeshed in the Lewinsky scandal, they rejoined the Republican Party and prepared the candidacy of Bush Junior.

But the weather changes all the time ... the neo-conservatives have just published an open letter against the candidacy of Donald Trump [1]. By doing so, they are preparing their return to the Democratic Party, should the Democrats present the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.

In this case, Donald Trump’s candidacy will have the advantage of clarifying the situation by officially closing ranks between the neo-conservatives and the liberal hawks and by confirming the leadership of Hillary Clinton over the «War Party».

Anyway, do you think the same schtick would have had us referring to President Huckabee?  Or pick whoever you'd like.  But do you think some other Republican could just has easily have said "expel the brown people" and enjoyed Trump's success?

The remains of the GOP race:

Cruz has no friends.

Rubio has crashed and burned

Kasich has not got a national profile

And it is not going to be decided in Clevland where Romney thinks he could grap the nomination.

It is already a done deal for Trump.

Thomas Eagleton, had to step down as the VP nominee for the Democrats after being selected by George McGovern for the 1972 election.

Has any presidential nominee ever had to step down and what would happen if that occurred?

if it´s true that Trump is not part of the club! And beholden to the powers behind the throne, under their power!

Then watch out!

Most likely the national committee would choose the replacement.

I've already seen it suggested elsewhere that the Republican Party could (and should) refuse to nominate Trump, even if he takes the primaries fair and square.

Just my thinking here, but if the party pulled a stunt like that, I wouldn't be shocked if Trump's supporters took it kind of personally, and maybe even held a grudge.

And of course The Donald wouldn't drop out.  He'd stay, just to be the scorpion on the frog's back, because that's what scorpions do.

I don't doubt that Trump would be willing to run against the Republicans if they screwed him out of the nomination. However, as I understand it, there are deadlines long before the actual conventions for ballot access in November. I seem to remember reading that Bloomberg would had to have started working on it full bore in March if he hoped to get on ballots in 50 states. So, if Trump is stabbed in the back at the convention, he will have to find a small party that has ballot access in most states, and is willing to sell out to him. I doubt that either the Greens or the Libertarians would be willing to play, but you never know about those wild and crazy Randians. What other parties are there that have presidential ballot lines in a good number of states? Anybody here know?

If the Republican Party were to throw down, I wouldn't rule out Trump doing sufficient damage to them as a 'write-in' candidate.  U.S. elections seem to feature thin margins.

Voting With Your Head: Against Hillary

http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/03/11/voting-with-your-head-against-hil...

"...In much the same way that militant Islamists make it easier for Islamophobes to get their way, Trump is making it easier for the Clintons to get theirs - because they and their handlers have succeeded in getting Democrats to think that stopping Trump is priority Number One and that Hillary is the one to make it happen.

Get people scared enough about Trumpian 'fascism' and about how only a 'centrist' with Hillary's savoir faire can defeat it, and there go the already slim chances for a self-sustaining and genuinely progressive political movement emerging. This is what the Clintonites are counting on.

The Clintons' lifelong project has been to make American politics as safe as can be for Big Business and High Finance. To that end, they purged the Democratic Party of its remaining ties to milquetoast mid-century liberalism, leaving only namby-pamby goody-goodism in its stead. [sounds like Canadian social democrats]

Were Hillary to go up against the Donald, mano a mano, it would be a sight to behold two of the most inauthentic, opportunistic politicians ever to disgrace the political scene, going at each other, no holds barred..."

Why does Clinton get to speak last at every single CNN event?

Mr. Magoo Mr. Magoo's picture

Because CNN has spent the last 36 years deep inside, as a "mole" operative waiting for the code-word to tell them to start favouring the Democrat.
