"Who Is He To Confront Me?" - Philippines President Unloads On "Son Of A Bitch" Barack Obama  by Tyler Durden Sep 5, 2016 8:51 AM 232 SHARES

What was an embarrassing weekend for president Barack Obama, whose arrival at the G-20 summit in China was a case study in diplomatic humiliation, just turned even worse when on Monday, Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte warned the US president not to question him about extrajudicial killings, or "son of a bitch I will swear at you" when the two presidents meet at a summit in Laos in the coming days.

The topic of Duterte's killing spree, supposedly involving mostly criminals and drug-traffickers, without due process has raised eyebrows most recently by the United Nations, which urged the Philippines to stop executing and killing people linked to drug business and threatened that “state actors” could be punished. As a result, two weeks ago Duterte lashed out at the UN and threatened that the country could leave the UN. "Maybe we'll just have to decide to separate from the United Nations. If you're that rude, son of a bitch, we'll just leave you," Duterte told reporters in Davao, quoted by Bloomberg. “I don't give a shit about them,” he added. “They are the ones interfering. You do not just go out and give a shitting statement against a country.”

.....this is significant especially regarding the rapidly diminishing respect for the credibility of the USA, which mirrors its declining economics and financial powers globally...we are witnessing a historic empire decline...and with Trump gaining the presidency, its collapse!!

They Have To Go: President Of Philippines Demands US Troops Leave The Country

SEPTEMBER 14, 2016

By James Holbrooks

Following Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s comments Monday that all U.S. troops in the country’s southern region of Mindanao “have to go,” an analyst recently posited the president’s move is an indication of the Philippine citizenry’s desire to move away from the West and toward China.

“A considerable segment of the population in the Philippines does not want to see foreign troops, including U.S. troops, in the Philippines,” Dr. Joseph Chang told Radio Sputnik.

Chang theorizes much of President Duterte’s decision regarding the removal of U.S. troops in the Philippines is rooted in his status as a populist leader, and that appeasing his electorate will “establish his credentials as a nationalist president.”

Dr. Chang also noted Duterte’s wish to “reduce the Philippines’ dependence on the U.S. in the security arena” and“improve economic ties with Beijing.” Chang further suggested Duterte may even desire to “attract foreign aid from Beijing to the Philippines.”

I predict that President Duterte will soon begin a run of very bad luck, which will end with his death or imprisonment. It'll just be a coincidence of course that this bad luck began right after he defied the U.S.

Where did that come from? Nobody here is suggesting that Duterte is anything but a murdering swine. In this case, he is a murdering swine who has seriously overplayed his hand. You see, the U.S. can accept a murdering swine as leader of an ally, but only if he knows his place.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte told reporters in Davao City on Friday that he would “be happy to slaughter” 3 million drug users, like Adolf Hitler murdered about 6 million Jews.

The 71-year-old leader said he had been “portrayed to be some cousin of Hitler” by critics, Reuters reported. “There are 3 million drug addicts (in the Philippines). I’d be happy to slaughter them,” he said.

“If Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have…” he said, pointing to himself, according to Reuters.

Is this called self-Godwinning? According to some on the left, as long as he pulls on Uncle Sam's beard, he's an alright kind of guy.

The sentiment was echoed even more colorfully by Beijing’s ambassador to the Philippines, Zhao Jianhua: "The clouds are fading away. The sun is rising over the horizon, and will shine beautifully on the new chapter of bilateral relations.

Philippines' Duterte Says 'Goodbye' To US Ties in Beijing

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/asiapacific/philippines-duterte-says-good...

"...Duterte is in China for a four-day trip that is expected to confirm its tilt away from Washington and towards Beijing's sphere of influence. During a speech addressing the Filipino community in Beijing, the firebrand president said the Philippines had gained little from its long alliance with the US, its former colonial ruler.

'Your stay in my country was for your own benefit. So time to say goodbye, my friend,' he said as if addressing the US..."

‘Only China can help Philippines’: Duterte turns to Beijing as rift with US widens

Quote:
"My grandfather is Chinese. It's only China that can help us," Duterte, who was elected in June, told Chinese state news agency Xinhua before embarking on a four-day trip that begins Tuesday.

"All that I would need to do is just to talk and get a firm handshake from the officials and say that we are Filipinos and we are ready to cooperate with you, to help us in building our economy and building our country."

Delicious.

Quote:
Duterte also promised to avoid inflaming the ongoing dispute about ownership of the South China Sea, over which both Beijing and Manila have a claim.

“There is no sense in going to war. There is no sense fighting over a body of water,” said Duterte of the lucrative shipping route, which could also become a major source of hydrocarbons. “It is better to talk than war. We want to talk about friendship, we want to talk about cooperation, and most of all, we want to talk about business. War would lead us to nowhere.

OMFG! That will make the State Department ... apoplectic with rage!

Quote:
In a pointed remark, the Filipino leader said that any negotiations would take place without mediators hostile to China – presumably Japan and the US. Washington has realigned its own geopolitical strategy to confront Beijing’s growing regional might.

Rage! Rage! Against the dying of the light!

Washington received no request from Manila to alter cooperation - US official

RT wrote:
The government of Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has made no formal request to the United States to modify their bilateral cooperation, a US official said on Thursday. Despite recent statements in which Duterte declared his “separation” from Washington, “we still have not received any requests through official channels to alter our assistance to or cooperation with the Philippines,” the official told AFP.

FT: (behind a paywall of sorts) Philippines’ Rodrigo Duterte announces ‘separation’ from US

- President willing to set aside court victory over Beijing on South China Sea claims

Quote:
“I announce my separation from the United States,” he said to applause at a meeting in Beijing on Thursday. A day earlier he had said: “I will not go to America any more. We will just be insulted there. So time to say goodbye my friend.”

Cue US MSM reports on Duerte's "sudden development of irreversible leukemia".

Quote:
He said he would not mention July’s ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague against Beijing’s sweeping claims in the South China Sea, telling Chinese media the decision was “just a piece of paper with four corners”.

Can you say, "Rubbing their noses in it?" Cuz that is exactly what is going on.

Quote:
Beijing had encouraged Manila to set the ruling aside in exchange for investment and joint development. Ramon Lopez, Philippine trade secretary, said on Thursday evening his country and China would sign $13.5bn of deals during this week’s visit.

Well, yeah, business is business. That way, any sudden "accident" involving the President won't affect the improving relations. Make things irreversible. Good strategy.

Quote:
Mira Rapp-Hooper, an Asia expert at the Center for a New American Security in Washington, said the US had made three assumptions about Mr Duterte that have not yet been borne out: that his statements about the alliance were largely rhetoric, that he would be constrained by strong public support for the US in the Philippines and that his rush to make nice with China would produce little.

The second one is interesting. I've seen Filipino surveys in which it's claimed that they LOVE the US more than their own country. So what has changed? Too many racist characterizations of Filipinos by significant US public figures? Go figure.

Quote:
She added that Mr Duterte’s planned trip to Japan next week would demonstrate a lot about his real intentions. If he continued to pursue the closer economic and military ties that have built up between the two countries in recent years, it would mean he was much less committed to the idea of seeking a broader alliance with China and Russia than his statements have suggested.

The imperial attitude. If we don't like a foreign country's leader, even if elected, we start thinking that he/she should die. I don't like either Trump or Clinton but that doesn't mean I would advocate offing them.

I don't think anyone is advocating imperialist regime change. Just pointing out that a society can only take so much authoritarian, iron fisted rule. If history is correct Duterte's long term fate is sealed. The same would go for Trump, especially in the US,his brand of authoritarian rule would end badly. It's predictable.

At the least,in the end,Duterte will be imprisoned.

Just look at what happened to Mussolini. There are real parallels.

A progressive? I seriously hope you're joking. Just because someone stands up and tells Amerikkka to fuck off doesn't make them defacto progressive.

If Duterte is your idea of a progressive,I wouldn't want to meet what you would describe as regressive.

I wouldn't assume that at all.

Anecdotal for sure, but I have seen quite a bit of support for him among Phillipine friends, and people in passing. Of course those who think he is a gangster don't have bumper stickers that say so, and I am sure a lot of his appeal is that he is thumbing his nose at the U.S.

I am curious though as to how this will affect his very real dispute with China over the maritime border issue.

And I expect Magoo was being facetious.

Michael seems to have a gloomy habit of predicting such things. But it takes a really "enlightened" contributor to be a cheerleader for political assassination. I suppose as long as it's of an "enemy" of the Empire, then such talk will be shrugged off by many as "locker room chat".
