Bloc MP and right-to-die advocate Francine Lalonde has died

I first met Ms Lalonde when she was at the CSN. Like many Bloc MPs, including Osvaldo Nuñez and Duceppe himself, she had a labour movement background. She fought the cancer that killed her for years, and fought tirelessly for the right to end one's own life as we choose.

Oh no!! What a fine woman, fighter, friend of the people and the workers! May her memory inspire us forever.

As someone who did some lobbying on Parliament Hill around various international solidarity issues over the past decade, I do not hesitate to say that of all MPs of all parties, Francine Lalonde was consistently the most reliable ally we had on Parliament Hill. RIP.
