Showing some love to rabble.ca

rabble is a bright light in the dark spaces of mainstream media and a great mechanism for developing community, solidarity, and citizen intelligence ~Anonymous

Ahhh, love letters. We admit, we like a compliment or two and last year when we did our visitor's survey we got some nice notes like the ones in this post. And you know what else warms our hearts? Pledges of support. With Valentine's Day less than a week away we encourage you to show some love and pledge your support to rabble.

I love rabble and trust it more than today's CBC, which is fighting to survive, but making massive compromises in the meantime ~Anonymous

And the good news is that we come with no strings attached -- we never sell or trade the names of our supporters.

I love your content and independence!!! ~Anonymous

And we give it away for free -- rabble is 100% free to use, always has been and always will be. But if you donate to us during our winter donation drive we can sweeten the deal by offering up some nice prizes in a draw, including two $250 gift certificates at a camera shop.

Independent media and information sources are a key part in securing a stable democracy in Canada. I wish I had known about rabble.ca a long time ago. ~Anonymous

Thanks! And thank you to everyone who has supported rabble. Why not share your love with the world and use our convenient "tell a friend" feature? Meanwhile we're going to read a few more notes.

Thank you for reading this story…

More people are reading rabble.ca than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all, while striving to make it sustainable as well. Media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our main supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help. You are what keep us sustainable.

rabble.ca has staked its existence on you. We live or die on community support -- your support! We get hundreds of thousands of visitors and we believe in them. We believe in you. We believe people will put in what they can for the greater good. We call that sustainable.

So what is the easy answer for us? Depend on a community of visitors who care passionately about media that amplifies the voices of people struggling for change and justice. It really is that simple. When the people who visit rabble care enough to contribute a bit then it works for everyone.

And so we’re asking you if you could make a donation, right now, to help us carry forward on our mission. Make a donation today.
