Cuts to veterans, unemployed, fund budget surplus

Finance Minister Joe Oliver announced Nov. 12 that the government will have a small surplus in 2015. He didn't say that the surplus has come from deep cuts to services for veterans and the unemployed.

Germany has taken in 30,000 Syrians and Sweden 25,000. Canada has taken in barely more than 1,000. Many have come on their own. They are not part of the 1,300 the government said it would resettle.
